February Monthly Medal - Turrell dances on ice!

(from our roving reporter S. Hudson)

Once again 21 members of the "extreme golfing" sub-section of the Seniors, wrapped up like Emperor Penguins, braved -3 below temperatures to play. "Its golf Jim but not as we know it." With frozen fairways offering driving distances to rival Alvaro Quiros's best and greens with more bouncing balls than the National Lottery, record high scores were recorded by many. Yet with all the grace and skill of a Torvill and Dean rolled into one, Phil Turrell skated his way to the winners rostrum with an amazing nett 73 to take gold for Fulbeck. Leaving Peter Bishop 78 and Mike Griffiths 79 not to mention the rest of us trailing behind. Congratulations.

For those following the Frostbite Pat Stanford leads with 40 from Peter Bishop 38 drawing away from David Toule 33.

January Stableford - Toule warms up for summer!

36 seniors emerged from their winter hibernation to enjoy the exceptional conditions on the course. The final dormouse was Terry Barker arriving at 8.30am just as the first threeball were teeing off. Captain Ian promptly relieved him of £2 for late arrival. The weather and Angus's continued generosity with the tee positions, rendering gender changes unnecessary, produced some excellent scoring with 12 players recording 36 points or better!! This resulted in a CSS of 70 and 5 players having the handicappers scalpel applied. The usual suspects made their way to the top of the leader board with the best being David Toule 42 from Pat Stanford 42 and Ray Woodcock 40.
Latest Frostbite leaders are: Ray Woodcock 28, David Toule 32 and Pat Stanford 34. Steve has updated the full table here and the Frostbite here.
