CAPTAIN’S CHARITY 2012

Ian's chosen Charity for 2012 is:

Help For Heroes.

Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes was founded in 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The charity is non political and non critical, is there simply to help.

Those in the Services are ordinary people who are asked on our behalf to do extraordinary things the consequences of which they may have to live with for the rest of their lives.

Help for Heroes cannot prevent injuries but can help to make them better and improve quality of life.

All donations to the charity are used to support wounded service people and the cost of admin is met from the sale of merchandise.

To date £118.5m has been raised and £107.9m paid out but tens of millions are still needed to fund projects currently under consideration or approved subject to funding. Every day more people come home needing care and support to resume their lives and this is likely to continue into the foreseeable future.

Information about the detail of how the charity has spent donations and its hopes for the future can be found on the website--- helpforheroes.org.uk
